Abstract

English as the language of instruction is used in communication across nations around the world. As the language of instruction, everyone in the world is obliged and must learn and be able to speak spoken and written English. Through good English language skills, one can communicate or express one's ideas and ideas. Ironically, although English learning is mandatory from the elementary school to college level, the facts show that there are still many learners at the university level who face difficulties in communicating ideas and thoughts in English. The fact of low English proficiency is also faced by students of the Hospitality study program of the Mataram Tourism College. Hospitality students should have  good English speaking skills and work demands as a waitress in the tourism service industry. Through  good speaking skills, messages, ideas and ideas are conveyed well. This research is based on the impressions and complaints of service users (users and stakeholders) (hospitality sector). This research focuses on the application  of the video assisted learning model of  English Hospitality courses in the Diploma Three Hospitality Study Program of the Mataram Tourism College. Video assisted learning (VAL) is a practical and effective learning model to improve  students' English speaking skills. This research is a type of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation)  model research involving 80 students in the second and fourth semesters of the Diploma Three Hospitality Study Program of the Mataram Tourism College. The research data was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires using the Likert scale: Agree (1), Disagree (2), and Disagree (3).  Then the data was analyzed using mix-methods (qualitative and quantitative). Qualitative data was obtained from suggestions, criticisms and other general opinions while quantitative data was obtained from the average score  of the English speaking skill assessment rubric.
